Arguably, one of the most central and vital parts of your entire water system is the boiler. Without this, you simply would not have hot water in your home. You can imagine what a nightmare that would be, so it is clear how important the boiler is in any property.
But the boiler on its own is not actually quite enough – system and regular boilers do require another part in order to function. This is the cylinder, and it is the part which actually stores the water itself, before passing it through to the boiler.
There are two main types of hot water cylinder: vented and unvented. Unvented cylinders take water directly from the mains, whereas a vented cylinder relies on a water tank or butt.
Usually, these are stored in an attic, to allow gravity to help pull the water down and through the pipes of the house. As it happens, a vented cylinder in particular has many benefits.
